If you’ve never used a cash for clothes service before, or you want to make your visit as quick and easy as possible, here are a few simple tips to help you get the best experience when visiting The Clear Out.
Our service is designed to help people clear out unwanted clothing in bulk while earning a small reward in return. A little preparation before you arrive helps us process your items faster — which means shorter queues and a smoother experience for everyone.

1. Bring Clothing in Good Condition
One of the biggest misconceptions about cash for clothes services is that we can take absolutely anything. Unfortunately, we can’t.
Because we pay for clothing, the items need to be in reusable, charity-grade condition. Many of the items we cannot resell ourselves are passed on to charity outlets, so we can only accept items that charities themselves would also accept.
That means we cannot take clothing with:
Holes
Stains
Excessive wear
Damp or mould
Heavy pet hair
Strong odours
If an item is too damaged for a charity shop, it is usually too damaged for us to accept as paid clothing too.
2. Make Processing Faster Before You Arrive
A few small things can massively speed up the process for both you and everyone waiting behind you.
Before bringing your bags in, please:
Turn clothing the right way round (not inside out)
Do up zips
Empty pockets
Tie shoes together where possible
Avoid tightly knotting bags
When items arrive ready to sort, we can work through them far more quickly and efficiently.
3. Remember — We Buy in Bulk
Our service is intended for clearing out larger amounts of unwanted clothing for a small reward.
We are not a fashion reseller or designer buy-back service, so individual branded items usually won’t receive separate valuations.
Understanding this before visiting helps avoid disappointment and makes the process much smoother.
If you have a few premium designer items you want maximum value for, you may be better using resale platforms instead.

4. Check Our Opening Days Before Travelling
Our opening days can vary week to week, so it’s always worth checking before setting off.
We are always open between 10am–2pm, but the days themselves may change depending on staffing and demand.
Before visiting, please check:
Our website
Our social media pages
Any latest updates posted online
This helps avoid wasted journeys.
5. Arrive Earlier If Possible
If you’re planning to visit on a busy day, arriving closer to 10am is usually the best option.
Later in the day queues can build up, especially near closing time. Once we reach capacity for the day, we may not be able to process everyone before closing.
Arriving earlier gives you:
Shorter waiting times
A quicker turnaround
Less chance of missing out
6. We Have Free Accessible Parking
We try to make visits as easy as possible, especially for customers bringing large bags or bulky loads.
We have:
Free parking
Accessible parking close to the unit
Easy unloading access
This makes dropping off large quantities much simpler.
7. Use Our 24/7 Donation Shed
Not everything needs to come through our paid service.
We also have a donation shed available 24 hours a day where you can leave unwanted items at any time for no reward.
During opening hours, we also open up the shed for the community to access free items including:
Clothing
Toys
Homeware
Household items
Miscellaneous finds
It’s a great way to reduce waste and help useful items stay in circulation.

8. Need to Dispose of Unusable Items?
If you have damaged, heavily worn or unusable items we cannot take, High Heavens Recycling Centre is located just down the road from our unit and can take a wide range of unwanted household and textile waste.
Separating reusable clothing from true waste before visiting helps everyone save time.
Final Thoughts
Using a cash for clothes service should be simple, quick and convenient.
The better prepared your bags are, the faster we can process them and the smoother your visit will be.
At The Clear Out, we’re proud to help keep reusable clothing out of landfill while giving customers an easy way to clear space and earn a little back at the same time.
